DIY plotter: two axes ready out of three

I have finished the hardware part for the two main axes of my DIY plotter project.

The main axis is based on a relatively old scanner.
The scanning head, with electronics removed and properly reinforced, is the support for the second axis. I have drilled two tracks in the scanner frame, along which the bolts connecting the two axes can move. The scanning surface of the scanner acts as the work plane for the plotter.

The second axis is the cartridge movement unit of a Xerox printer.

I’m working on the third axis, the pen up/down unit.
(Still waiting for the grblShield to power this thing and see if it works ;) )
